A gleaming set of alloy wheels make your car stand out from the crowd and they need a regular care regime to keep them looking great. Different types of alloys need slightly different care regimes, so check your finish for any special requirements. Aluminium wheels may require more care than other types, but in general, caring for your wheels is pretty straight forward.
Make sure your wheels are cold before you start cleaning and park the car out of direct sunlight if possible, as this stops unsightly water marks caused by uneven drying. First, clean thoroughly with a hose to remove as much dirt as possible as particles of grit can scratch the finish when using a cloth. Next use a cloth to wash the wheel with soapy water making sure to rinse with a separate bucket. Stubborn brake dust may need a specialist cleaning solution. Dry the wheels quickly with a drying cloth then apply the relevant wax or polish.
