If you have recently bought a second hand car the chances are you will not have had the opportunity to have a look underneath it. Have a good look around the car checking the tyres, exhaust and under the bonnet. If you notice anything that doesn’t quite look right get it checked out as soon as possible. It may be that there is something that will need doing on the car but can wait a few months, giving you time to save up and shop around for the best quote. If your tyres are low then you need to find out what tread is left on them. The legal limit is 1.3mm of tread but tyres below 3mm can start to affect the driving on the vehicle.
When you take the car in ask the garage if they are able to put it up on the ramp and have a look over it for you. Many garages will do this free of charge if you are having other work done. If possible have a look under the car yourself and ask them to point out any potential problems.
IF they quote you for work that you are not confident needs doing then do not be afraid to take it to another garage to get a second opinion.
