If you like cars then you problem always have a moral dilemma when it comes to choosing a new one. Depending on your circumstances, you may find that you need a car that is fit for a particular purpose. For example, when I had my second child and needed a twin pushchair, I found that I could no longer cope with a 3 door small hatchback and need to upgrade to a bigger model. I also had a dog that I used to take in the car regularly, so ideally I needed an Estate car. This was not really the type of vehicle that I would normally go for and did not want to get rid of my sporty hatch back at the time.
Once I had given in to the idea, I actually found that the practical side of being able to fit everything in the car and not having horrendous back ache from trying to reach in to the back seats to put the children in the car, far out weighted the benefits of something a little more up my street.
