The laws regarding blacked out car windows

People often chose to tint their car windows for different reasons. Some chose to do it solely to block out some of the harmful rays of the sun, while others may use it to add privacy or even to style the vehicle. This has always been popular amongst younger drivers, especially on those that like to modify their car.

There are strict laws regarding window tints that need to be adhered to otherwise you could find yourself being fined or even having them partially removed on the roadside should you get stopped by the police.

The rear window screen and rear passenger windows are allowed to be tinted – and there is no rules to state how strong the tint should or shouldn’t be.

For vehicles first used on 1 April 1985 or later the front windscreen must let at least 75% of light through and the front side windows must let at least 70% of light through but for vehicles first used before 1 April 1985 the front windscreen and front side windows must both let at least 70% of light through.
