USB ports in your car

If like many people you have multiple devices that you want to use / charge in your car then you may be stuck with one charging port. Some modern cars have USB sockets in the car others only have a power adapter port (or cigarette port). If you have one of these then you will need to buy an adaptor to enable you to plug your devices in. Some of these adaptors do have more than one USB socket on them but they may split the power between all devices meaning they charge slower.

You can get proper additional USB chargers that will put the same power in if you have one device or three plugged in. If you need to charge devices using a normal 3 pin plug then you will need to buy an inverter. An inverter will change the power output from the car socket to the correct one needed for normal 3 pin devices.

When using any device, never leave it plugged in when you are out of the car. This can be a fire risk and can also drain your car battery if the port has a permanent power supply.
