Have you noticed your tyres losing pressure?

It is vital that you look after the tyres on your vehicle. They are an integral part of the safety and driving experience of the car and need to be looked after in order to ensure that you vehicle is driving as it should.

If your one of your tyres is losing pressure then there could be a number of reasons as to why this is to happening. The most common reason for loss of tyre pressure is that you have got a puncture in in. This may be something as small as a nail or fragment of glass but can cause air to be lost quickly, especially if it is being driven on. If the puncture is within the central ¾ of the tyre then you should be able to take it to a tyre centre or repair garage. Puncture repairs on tyres cost approximately £15 but if it is on the outer side close to the tyre wall then it is considered an unsafe and unreliable repair and you will have to fork out for a new one, regardless of the age of the tyre and tread left on it. The other reasons for loss in pressure can be due to damaged valves or damaged seals. When a new tyre is fitted the tyre should have a new valve put on it. If the valve is damaged or fault then it may start to lose air that way.

If the tyre is not sealing round the wheel properly then you will probably need the beading redone.
