Taking care when driving in hazardous conditions

With snow a possibility over the next few weeks, it is important to make sure that your vehicle is road worthy and safe to drive in these this type of weather. If you have recently noticed that your tyres do not have as much grip on them, or you have fitted budget tyres that do not seem to cut it then you may want to invest in a new set before the hard weather hits.
You need to check that you have washer fluid in your wipers and that it is ok to use at freezing temperatures. With dirt and grit on the roads, window screens get very dirty quickly and if you are not able to clear them, you may not be able to have a clear view.
Many of us still have to try and go to work, pick up and drop off children at school or go to do the shopping in the bad weather, so it is vital that you get your car checked over now. Some garages offer free winter checks. This can be a good idea as it will give you an idea of what you need to do in the weeks approaching winter. Ice and snow are often the worse types of weather in winter and both and be lethal. The roads are often gritted but the grit does get washed away and smaller streets are often missed. If you do have to drive in these conditions make sure that you are prepared. Take some drinks and food incase you become stranded somewhere, make sure you have a phone with a charged battery and keep a snow shovel and blankets in the boot.
