Insurance groups explained

When you are looking to insure a car you need to shop around to find the best price. You can easily save £200 plus often just by using a comparison site rather than continuing to insure with the same company time and time again.

Insurance companies look at many factors when quoting a price to insure a vehicle. Where the car is going to be kept (home address postcode), driving experience, convictions and claims and modifications all have an impact on an insurance quote along with a number of other things.

Cars are put in to groups for insurance purposes ranging from the cheapest to insure being a 1 all the way up to the most expensive being a 50. The top end sports cars are often within the 40 – 50 range. These groups alone will only make up part of the contributing factors towards the price you are quoted but if you are looking to save as much money as possible then go for a low insurance group vehicle.
