With day to day living at an all time high, we are all looking for ways we can save money. Running a car is an expensive outlay and often servicing is the one thing that may be delayed as there is no legal requirement to have it done. But delaying a car service can potentially cause problems which can lead to a bigger expense and can also mean that your fuel consumption is higher, again costing you more in fuel.
So the question that many of us ask is, can we service our car ourselves? The answer for most of us is yes but it does depend on certain factors. The first one being, is the car still under a manufactures warranty? If so then usually you have to have the car serviced at an approved garage to keep the warranty instated. The second is, what type of service is it, if it is a basic one that consists of oil change and filters etc then this is fairly easy to do but if it is a major service that may include a cambelt change then this is a much more complex job and you may wish to call in the experts.
